Ikumi Fritz

My journey into the world of doulas began with my own experience of pregnancy and childbirth and the support of a couple of friends I subsequently met. It began with a deep-seated passion to support mothers during the most transformative moments of their lives: pregnancy, birth and postpartum. With my first child, I felt a deep need for guidance, support and empathy. Having been supported through two subsequent pregnancies, and seeing the huge impact that having support had on me, I wanted to help and guide others as they embarked on this amazing journey.
My experience of supporting international students at local educational institutions also made me realise the importance of understanding the expectations and perceptions of foreign parents who are unfamiliar with the Japanese system. This experience reinforced my commitment to providing tailored, non-judgmental support to clients and honed my ability to understand and adapt to diverse cultural backgrounds and needs.
Finally, I am passionate about empowering, educating and advocating for women. I am committed to supporting mothers and their children by building teams of mother-centred professionals and community members.
