Speaker: Soo Downe

Description: Soo Downe speaks about a qualitative systematic review, published in 2020, undertaken to identify what matters to women in the postnatal period, to inform the scope of a new World Health Organization (WHO) postnatal guideline. 36 studies from 15 countries were included, representing the views of more than 800 women.

Soo Downe is a Professor of Midwifery Studies at the University of Central Lancashire. She has published over 150 peer reviewed papers. Soo is a member of the Board of Directors  of the International Mother Baby Childbirth Organisation, the Global Respectful Maternity Care Council of the White Ribbon Alliance, the lead author group for the Lancet Midwifery Series (2014); an author on and Advisory Group member for the Lancet Stillbirth Series (2016); and a co-author on the Lancet Reducing Caesarean Section Series (2018). She has been a member of the Technical Working Group of the WHO antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal, utero tonics,  and optimising caesarean section guidelines.
